Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, began to fulfill one of her main campaign promises: the inauguration of 100 'Utopias' in the 16 boroughs of the capital. This past weekend, the first one was inaugurated, located in La Magdalena Mixiuhca, in Iztacalco. More than a year into her term, she has finally inaugurated the first one. 'Utopias are not a destination, but a starting point, laboratories of the future, where a different kind of city is tested,' assured the Head of Government. She launched these infrastructure projects aimed at bringing goods and services to the most underserved communities in the capital when she was mayor of Iztapalapa, where she inaugurated 12 such units. 'A city that ceases to be a promise to become a daily experience,' completed the former mayor this Sunday from the Iztacalco borough. 'Utopias are nurseries of peace, they have managed to strengthen the security of communities and make public spaces reclaimed by the people, generating diverse opportunities,' highlighted the Head of Government, who was accompanied during the event by her entire government team and figures from the federal administration, considering the importance of launching one of the main campaign promises for the capital's ruling party. The FIFA World Cup is accelerating rent increases, and Sánchez Barrios seeks to regulate Airbnb. According to the government, the Utopia that is already operating in the Ciudad Deportiva La Magdalena Mixiuhca is the first part of a dual project, which will have a total of 120,000 square meters. Likewise, the works have typical public construction delays, a scenario that Secretary Raúl Basulto seeks to overcome so that Clara Brugada can advance with her plan. In this context, this Sunday the Head of Government confirmed that after Holy Week her administration will inaugurate the Utopia Ceylán, located in the Azcapotzalco borough. 'We are not just inaugurating a space, we are giving birth to a new form of city: a city that cares, that includes, that reduces inequalities, that recognizes its history and builds its future collectively,' she stated. During her 2024 campaign, Brugada promised to inaugurate 100 more throughout the capital. 'A new way of rethinking and making the city is born,' she assured and announced that the project will continue after Holy Week with the opening of another unit in Azcapotzalco. The facility inaugurated this Sunday covers 80,000 square meters, and the second, which will open in the coming weeks, will have the remaining 40,000. To this is added the resistance that emerged in some boroughs, such as Xochimilco, where local residents voted against the capital's administration proceeding with a building. The first of these, for example, is the lack of space and land to advance with the constructions. Likewise, it will have a semi-Olympic pool, exercise equipment, and other spaces for sports. The Head of Government of CDMX, Clara Brugada, began this Sunday to launch one of her main campaign promises: the inauguration of 100 Utopias in the 16 boroughs of the capital. This weekend was the turn of the first one, in La Magdalena Mixiuhca, located in Iztacalco. More than a year into her mandate, she inaugurated the first one. Morena denounced Mauricio Tabe for detaining neighbors in the Miguel Hidalgo borough. The problems facing these constructions are several and put at risk the Head of Government's ambitious plan. In addition, it will have spaces to foster creativity, such as robotics schools, artistic creation, a house of the senses, a creative laboratory, music, a painting salon, masks, an interactive museum, a recreational park, and an auditorium for 400 people. The same one will be distinguished by facilitating access and promoting science and technology since it will have a robotics school.
